# Vault Guardians

Vault Guardians control Aera vault parameters to balance risk / return in accordance with the [objective-function](https://docs.aera.finance/v1-archive/concepts/objective-function "mention"). We expect Vault Guardians to be sophisticated industry participants who:

* Act purely in the interest of the treasury
* Are able to develop capabiltities in on-chain data extraction and processing
* Have the competency required to participate in portfolio construction according to a pre-defined objective function.
